GCK unveils its hydrogen buggy for the Dakar rally

GCK hydrogen buggy Dakar

One year after being the first team to announce that it would take part in the Dakar rally with a hydrogen-powered vehicle, GCK Motorsport has released the first photos of its future buggy. It will be called the e-Blast H2 2024 (the planned date of its entry in the rally-raid).

In making the choice to publish these images, the team is reaffirming its position as a major player, not only in the integration of hydrogen in motor sport but also in the rally-raid of the future. The design office and technical teams of Green Corp Konnection (GCK), which is the parent company of GCK Motorsport, have been working for several months with 21 experts from FEV, a world leader in engineering. Together, they are developing this hydrogen buggy.

Let’s specify that the fuel cell comes from EKPO (Elringklinger and Plastic Omnium). The equipment manufacturer is to unveil its NM12 Twin fuel cell, which holds a record power of over 200 kW, specially designed for the most demanding applications.

The photos show a unique customised chassis, which combines smooth curves and aggressive straight lines to form an imposing unit that can accommodate the GCK fuel cell and hydrogen tanks. GCK Motorsport’s orange colour is complemented by the blue which hints at the colour of hydrogen. It can also be noticed that the e-Blast H2 bears the number 36 of the French driver and President of GCK, Guerlain Chicherit.
