Maybe you heard about the Green GT H2. This race car, powered by a fuel cell, was about to become the first ever race car to engage at 24 hours of Le Mans, in 2013. The Green GT’s team was invited by ACO to occupy the Garage 56 as an innovative concept. But, only a few weeks prior to the race, it decided to resign. The team just estimated to be unprepared and withdrew its commitment.
We had no news since then.
But, surprise : last friday, people from the media received an e-mail with an invitation. The Green GT H2 is back on track ! Next saturday, during the french race of WTCC championship, the hydrogen powered race car will run on Paul Ricard circuit, in the south of France. French former F1 driver Olivier Panis will be in the car. And he will share the steering wheel with his 20 years old son Aurélien, also a race driver.
Green GT claims its car has a range comparable with a combustion engine race car. But, it only emits water vapor.
We will know within a week what the team plans to do and if it’s ready to race at Le Mans.
