Another player from the hydrogen industry is set to shine ahead of the Olympic Games. After Victorien Erussard of Energy Observer and Matthieu Guesné of Lhyfe, it is now the turn of the adventurer and co-founder of Inocel to be among the torchbearers.
He announced the news in a message on Facebook and Instagram. Mike Horn will have the privilege of carrying the Olympic flame during the Haute-Savoie stage on 23 June. He will be at *Chamonix, which was the site of the first Winter Olympics, held in 1924, exactly 100 years ago. “Thank you Paris 2024 for this opportunity, I look forward to seeing you on the road next Saturday”, said the famous explorer. Quoting former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela, who said that “sport has the power to change our world”, he explained that he was delighted to be carrying this torch “as a symbol of unity.”
Mike Horn is currently on a boat between France and Greenland. He is also co-founder of Inocel, a company that manufactures high-power fuel cells based on a CEA patent. A gigafactory is due to open shortly in Belfort.
*Chamonix is situated in the French Alps just north of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe.
