The hydrogen-powered Opel Movano on show at the IAA in Hannover

In the same hall as Hyvia, Stellantis Pro One is exhibiting the new Hydrogen Opel Movano. This is the first large hydrogen-powered van in the Franco-Italian-American manufacturer’s range.

In addition to the compact range (Peugeot Expert, Citroën Jumper, Opel Vivaro), the group plans to offer a range of large hydrogen-powered vans. The IAA show in Hannover is the opportunity to unveil the first model in this range, the Opel Movano. It carries a 45 kW fuel cell, a 11 kWh battery and stores 7.5 kg of hydrogen. These provide the vehicle with a range of 500 km.

The hydrogen-powered Opel Movano also features a 110 kW (150 hp) electric motor with a maximum torque of 410 Newton metres. The hybrid architecture provides start-up and acceleration assistance, ensuring that the fuel cell system always operates in optimum conditions. In addition, braking energy can be recovered and injected into the battery in the form of electricity via the electric motor.

Stellantis points out that the entire propulsion chain and the hydrogen tanks are located in such a small space that the van makes no compromises in terms of everyday use. The hydrogen-powered Opel Movano can store up to 17m3 of freight and carry up to 1,370 kilograms of payload.
