Inocel Starts Production of Its Z300 Battery in Belfort

In December, the company co-founded by Mike Horn and Mauro Ricci began the production of the first units of its Z300 battery, marking the launch of the gigafactory in Cravanches, near Belfort (a city in northeastern France, situated approximately 25 km from the Swiss border).

Alongside Forvia, McPhy, and Gen-Hy (who will join in the second half of the year), the Belfort region is becoming a notable hub for hydrogen players. As Inocel highlights, this plant represents high-value production. “This industrial site embodies a strategic vision to support the energy transition. By leveraging advanced technologies, it combines industrial excellence, flexibility, and decarbonisation,” the company shared in a LinkedIn post, which was also supported by the Tennerdis cluster.

The site stands out for its scalable production capacity, which can be adjusted to meet demand. Inocel has also implemented cutting-edge automation and robotics, along with connected technologies for real-time, intelligent monitoring. The plant is committed to sustainable development, with a focus on reducing waste and optimising energy consumption.

The Z300 batteries are designed for integration into generator sets. They can serve as backup power for critical industries, the main energy source for isolated sites and eco-responsible buildings, or as grid support to stabilise renewable energy.
