Through its dedicated infrastructure fund, Hy24 is investing €50 million (around $51.8 million USD) in StormFisher Hydrogen to support the development of multiple clean fuel production sites across the United States and Canada. These projects will have a total installed renewable capacity of up to 1.8 GW by 2030.
The funding will help StormFisher Hydrogen advance towards final investment decisions (FIDs) for its projects. Headquartered in Houston and Toronto, the company operates in the United States (Texas, Kansas, Minnesota) and Canada (Ontario). It specializes in producing e-fuels such as e-methanol, e-methane, ammonia, and green hydrogen.
Its most advanced project, located in North Texas, is set to begin operations in early 2026, with an annual e-methanol production capacity exceeding 120,000 tonnes.
Hy24’s First Investment in North America
“We are pleased to make our first direct investment in North America to support the growth of StormFisher Hydrogen,” said Pierre-Etienne Franc, co-founder and CEO of Hy24. “The company can leverage its energy platform approach, strong offtaker strategy, and a favorable international regulatory landscape to deploy its robust pipeline of e-Fuels projects and drive its export ambitions to European and Asian markets.”
“With cutting-edge energy infrastructure and highly skilled workforce, the United States is poised to lead the global low-carbon fuels market,” added Judson Whiteside, President and CEO of StormFisher Hydrogen. “Our projects strengthen America’s position in the energy transition while enhancing domestic energy resilience and independence.”
