After a well-earned winter refit in Saint-Malo, the hydrogen-powered catamaran Energy Observer is back at sea. She is en route to Nice, where the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference will take place from 9 to 13 June.
Indefatigable as ever, the freshly revamped and optimised vessel continues her mission as an ambassador for renewable energy. Once again operating in zero-emission mode, she is heading to the Côte d’Azur to support this major international event dedicated to protecting ocean health and advancing practical solutions for a sustainable future.
Energy Observer will be moored in Nice during the conference, and her captain, Victorien Erussard, will take part in the event, sharing updates on upcoming projects.
In the lead-up to the conference, the SOS Ocean initiative has already raised the alarm about urgent marine issues. During the closing ceremony, President Emmanuel Macron will outline eight key objectives for the UNOC, one of which is to “decarbonise maritime transport: develop clean fuels, electrify ports and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.”
