During the French President’s state visit to Indonesia, Hydrogène de France (HDF Energy) signed two strategic agreements aimed at developing Renewstable green hydrogen power plants across the country.
The first agreement, a tripartite memorandum of understanding, was signed on 28 May by HDF Energy, Indonesia’s national electricity operator PLN, and the state-owned infrastructure financing company PT SMI. The signing ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. This agreement is one of six major partnerships formalised with French companies during the visit.
The objective of the partnership is to identify and implement innovative financing mechanisms to support HDF’s 23 ongoing projects in Indonesia, representing a total investment of €2.3 billion.
In parallel, HDF Energy signed a second agreement with the provincial government of East Nusa Tenggara to reinforce the rollout of its projects in this high-potential region, which hosts 8 of the 23 ongoing developments.
In April, HDF Energy’s local subsidiary signed another memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian Ministry of Transport, state electricity provider PT PLN (Persero), and ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero). This agreement outlines a joint study on decarbonising maritime transport in the Indonesian archipelago using locally produced green hydrogen.
