French manufacturer HRS has received a letter of intent from its customer Element 2 to supply a mobile hydrogen refuelling station in Glasgow, Scotland.

Following its first order for an HRS station in September 2024 for Teesside Airport, the British operator has once again chosen the Grenoble-based company. HRS will design, build, and install a new HRS14 mobile station with a capacity of 14 kg/hour in Glasgow. The key advantage of this solution is its portability: it can be dismantled, transported, and set up at new sites, becoming operational in just ten days.

Element 2 aims to roll out 50 stations across the United Kingdom and Ireland over the next five years. This infrastructure is designed to meet the growing demand from commercial fleet operators, particularly those running buses, heavy goods vehicles, and light commercial vehicles.

“This collaboration is fully aligned with our international growth strategy and confirms the value of our modular and agile offering. Hydrogen mobility can only succeed through strong partnerships, proven technology, and a shared vision for decarbonising transport,” said HRS CEO Hassen Rachedi. He added: “Scotland, a pioneer in the fight against climate change, offers fertile ground for the deployment of sustainable solutions.”

Scotland was the first country in the world to declare a climate emergency and has set the ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.
