The agreement provides for the development of infrastructure to accommodate both future electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft, anticipating the energy transition.

This is a German-British collaboration between Evia Energy, a subsidiary of Envia Aero based in Bremen, Germany, and Cranfield Aerospace Solutions (CAeS), based in Bedfordshire, England. The agreement includes the installation of infrastructure for refuelling both manned and unmanned electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft at regional airports.

“We have been working with CAeS for the supply of hydrogen-electric powered versions of the BN Islander for our future airline operations,” says Evia Energy CEO Florian Kruse. He adds, “Our business model necessitates early cooperation with regional airports to ensure the infrastructure is available to support future electric and hydrogen aircraft operations. By coordinating our activities with CAeS, we expect to deliver value to the airport operators alongside provision for the refuelling of manned and unmanned operations as aviation develops into the future.”

For his part, the CEO of CAeS believes that “it is the natural next step to extend our relationship into the fuel infrastructure domain” and sees it as an exciting global opportunity by “leveraging our combined expertise.”
