Later this year, Lexus will unveil at Tokyo Motor Show the new LS. This flagship sedan, that is celebrating its 25 th birthday, will be for sure available with an hybrid powertrain. According to rumours, an hydrogen version is also planned for 2018. The technology will come directly from the Toyota Mirai.
This is not surprising.
As a sponsor of 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo, the japanese car maker wants to seize this opportunity to show to the world the efficiency of fuel cell technology. A Lexus LS powered by hydrogen could be used to carry officials and VIP.
As it did for hybrid versions, Toyota could offer in the next 10 to 15 years derivatives with fuell cells in its portfolio, both for Toyota and Lexus brands.
