The World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam (a key international event in the hydrogen sector) served as the European stage for Honda to present its latest fuel cell system, just a few months after its world premiere in Japan.
Series production of the new system is scheduled to begin in 2027. Compared to Honda’s current module, the new version delivers major improvements: production costs have been cut by half, durability has doubled, and volumetric power density has tripled.
This next-generation fuel cell has been developed for use in four key areas: hydrogen-powered cars and commercial vehicles, construction machinery, and stationary power generation systems.
Honda’s visit to Rotterdam was also the occasion to announce existing partnerships in Europe. These include collaborations with Hypermotive (focused on the maritime sector) and e-power (in the construction sector), both of which are already using the current fuel cell module in real-world applications.
