At the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, Kawasaki Heavy Industries will showcase a unique and groundbreaking machine—a blend of robotics, a horse, and a motorbike—a vision for 2050.

Kawasaki’s commitment to hydrogen technology is well known, with notable projects in hydrogen liquefaction, turbines, and even hydrogen-powered motorbikes. The Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, where the company is a key partner, provides the perfect platform to unveil a truly unexpected mobility concept.

Corleo is a futuristic machine designed for 2050, combining the mobility of a four-legged creature (like a horse) with the thrill of motorbike riding, offering the agility of an off-road vehicle. This concept was made possible by Kawasaki’s expertise, drawing from both their robotics and motorbike divisions. Here’s a teaser video.

For propulsion, this mechanical horse uses a 1,500 cm³ combustion engine, powered by hydrogen. The hydrogen is stored in capsules at the rear. The engine drives a generator, which supplies electricity to the electric motors in each of the four legs. Kawasaki has yet to release technical details about the system.

The heart of the Corleo concept is a hydrogen generator known as O’Cuvoid. This system works in tandem with a turbocharged hydrogen combustion engine, suitable for both stationary and mobile applications.
