Le Mans Hydrogen: two key highlights of the 2025 edition

Le Mans Hydrogen (LMH2) returns on 10 September 2025, and for the first time it will take place at the iconic Le Mans circuit. The keynote speech and the round table on hydrogen in motorsport will be the main highlights of this year’s edition.

The event will be held at the Welcome, in the heart of the circuit, under the theme: “Mobility, technological innovations, hydrogen: the moment of truth?” The keynote will be delivered by Mikaa Blugeon-Mered, a senior researcher in hydrogen strategies and geopolitics, and member of the executive board of the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (IHFCA). His presentation will tackle the question: “Hydrogen mobility: the world is accelerating, but why is France lagging behind?” He is expected to highlight China, where progress is moving at a much faster pace.

The second highlight will be the traditional round table on hydrogen in competition: “Motorsport of the future: Hydrogen, the choice of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.” Speakers will include Pierre Fillon, President of the ACO; Pierre-Jean Tardy, Chief Engineer Hydrogen at Alpine Racing; Jacques Nicolet, President of Ligier Automotive; and Pascal Vasselon, Vice President of Strategic Development for Motorsport at Toyota Gazoo Racing. The discussion will review the MissionH24 programme and the future hydrogen category of the WEC championship.

Alongside the debates, hydrogen vehicles will be on display, and test drives are planned on the Bugatti circuit. Former Le Mans driver Olivier Savin, now CEO of Blue Spirit Aero, will also present the future of the Dragonfly—his hydrogen-powered aircraft unveiled during the week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
