Punch Hydrocells to apply the hydrogen engine on boats

Within the Punch Torino group the new Hydrocells structure – which is working on hydrogen – will make an announcement at the Genoa Boat Show which will be held from September 16 to 21. Although research into cleaner diesel engines continues a hydrogen-powered combustion engine will be on display at the event. This is a 6.6-litre Duramax V8 designed by General Motors (from whom the Punch Group has bought its engine business in Italy).

While waiting to supply fuel cells and moving towards zero emissions the Punch group believes that hydrogen in the engine is a transitional path that can contribute to the decarbonisation of maritime transport. In this respect a cooperation agreement has been signed with Castagnola Yacht. The group also wants to extend the solution to other forms of mobility.
