Yanmar to market a compact hydrogen fuel cell power system

Bearing the name HP35FA1Z, this compact and multi-unit controllable hydrogen fuel cell from Yanmar will start being sold from September 2nd, 2024.

Japan is increasingly betting on hydrogen to decarbonise its energy mix. For instance, the Japanese government enacted the Hydrogen Society Promotion Bill last May. Some key Japanese players such as Toyota are also promoting this concept of a hydrogen society, including beyond Japan’s borders.

Yanmar HP35FA1Z hydrogen fuel cell power generation system has a 35kW power output. It emits neither greenhouse gases or air pollutants like nitrogen oxides (NOx) during operation, ensuring a clean power supply. Furthermore, the system’s compact design includes all necessary operating equipment, simplifying installation and achieving one of the smallest footprints in its power output class. It supports the integrated control of up to 16 units, allowing for easy adjustment of operating units and output control based on power demand and available hydrogen supply.

On the technical side, this Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEFC) weighs 1,650 kg and reaches a 51.2% efficiency.
