According to “Les Echos” (a French national newspaper), 62 projects have been selected in Germany as part of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI/PIEC) for a total of €33 billion (about $38.5 billion). These projects cover four main areas along the hydrogen value chain: production, infrastructure, industrial and mobility applications.

AquaVentus, one of the receiving party, has announced the implementation of 10 GW of green hydrogen production capacity by 2035, based on renewable electricity generated by an offshore wind farm. The consortium includes more than 70 international companies, organisations and research institutes among the biggest leaders in offshore wind, such as Japan’s J Power, the US company McDermott, IKEM (German Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility) and DFKI (German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence).

These projects will also benefit from €8 billion (about $9.3 billion) in national and regional public funding.
