Horiba: a mobile test centre in container form

The Japanese company, Horiba, is introducing the HyBOPS system (Fuel cell system testing controller), which is a container that can incorporate all the equipment needed for on-site testing.

This is known as Test as a Service (TaaS). Rather than investing in equipment to test the fuel cells, Horiba takes care of everything, bringing the container, the instruments and, of course, the experts. The container is transportable and can be set up inside or outside the company. The HyBOPS system can be used to test fuel cells and their components, including the air compressor, heat exchanger, water cooling loop, hydrogen supply and power electronics.

As a specialist in metrology, Horiba is fully committed to the quality of its measurements. The manufacturer states that its system complies with the ISO 17025 standard. And that it is very familiar with the world of fuel cells.

The advantage for companies is having a flexible tool that can be easily transported from one site to another. This saves time when evaluating prototypes, both in terms of operating safety and endurance. In addition to this container, Horiba points out that it is also capable of carrying out tests on the entire powertrain and even on the vehicle itself when it comes to mobility.

The company, which has a hydrogen centre of excellence in Vénissieux, near Lyon, is also teaming up with Symbio.
