On 30 April, the Swiss Solar Boat team successfully crossed Lake Geneva from Lausanne to Evian in a hydrogen-powered boat named the Dahu. A crucial step towards a more ambitious project.

The aim was to reach Evian in 45 minutes. However, there were a few complications. A minor leak in the water-cooling system of the propulsion engines required an unexpected repair in the middle of the lake. But that wasn’t going to hold the team back. Thus, the boat arrived in Evian within two hours.

This spot is highly symbolic, and not simply for the quality of its water. This is where CGN docks for its regular services between Lausanne and Evian. The reception was warm. This crossing marks the very first Lausanne-Evian trip on a hydrofoil boat with solar-hydrogen propulsion.

The Swiss Solar Boat is now planning ahead. On 29 May 2024, the team will unveil its new prototype, promising even greater advances in sustainable transport.
