Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport gets ready for hydrogen

Following a similar agreement with the group ADP (Paris Airports), Airbus and Air Liquide have announced a partnership with VINCI Airports. These three major players are going to work together to create the network needed for hosting the future hydrogen aircraft.

The pioneering airport of Lyon-Saint-Exupéry will host the first hydrogen facilities as of 2023.

The implementation of this important project includes several stages.

From 2023, a hydrogen gas distribution station will be deployed at Lyon airport. This station will be used to supply both the airport’s ground vehicles (runway buses, trucks, handling equipment, etc.) and those of its partners, as well as the heavy goods vehicles that drive around the airport.

Between 2023 and 2030, liquid hydrogen infrastructures will be rolled out to allow hydrogen to be loaded into the tanks of future aircraft.

Beyond 2030, a hydrogen infrastructure from production to massive distribution of liquid hydrogen in the airport will be set up.
