Alliance for Zero Emission Aviation: already 74 members
On September 26, the European Commission released the list of initial members participating in the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA). The 74 members include players committed to hydrogen.
Unsurprisingly, the list comprises players such as Airbus, Easyjet, DLR (the German space and aeronautics agency), Rolls-Royce, Safran, Daher, Pipistrel, Zero Avia, and a whole section of the Toulouse ecosystem with the start-up Bleu Spirit Aero (founded by a former Dassault employee, Olivier Savin), Beyond Aero, Universal Hydrogen or the firm H3 Dynamics (drones). Air Liquide and Linde are also members intended to supply hydrogen. Regarding the French companies, ONERA and the Normandie AeroEspace cluster (NAE) are on the list as well.
It is worth mentioning that the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Eurocontrol, the European air traffic management organisation, have joined the Alliance.
The Alliance will work to cover several aspects related to fuel and infrastructure requirements for hydrogen and electric aircraft at airports, renewable fuel and electricity supply, standardisation and certification, practices for airline operators and air traffic management.
AZEA will hold its first General Assembly on 14 November 2022 in Brussels.
