A new coalition has presented a plan for hydrogen mobility. It brings together manufacturers who want to retrofit trucks and decarbonise road transport more quickly.

The event took place on 11 January at the Village by CA in Paris, in the presence of Michel Delpon (green hydrogen ambassador within the framework of France 2030) and Hoang Bui, coordinator of the national “decarbonised hydrogen” and “decarbonisation of industry” strategies, within the SGPI (general secretariat for investment).

The coalition in question brings together e-neo (a retrofit player), the transport company DB Schencker, Alice (the Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe) and Phynix (a Spanish green hydrogen producer). It should be noted that Seiya Consulting* played a part in the founding committee. This coalition thus combines all the players in the transport value chain (loaders, carriers and logisticians, equipment manufacturers, retrofitters, financiers and leasers, politicians and public administrations). Besides, the initiative is supported by the European Union and EIT Inno Energy.

The Retrofit H2 coalition wants to create a network of retrofitters and maintenance garages. It is targeting trucks since it is an issue in relation to the LEZs** steadily implemented in France and Europe. Converting diesel trucks to hydrogen is the fastest way to decarbonise the sector given that manufacturers will only be ready by the end of the decade.

The objective is to retrofit to hydrogen 10,000 trucks per year in France by 2030.
