On 21th September, Hopium unveiled a series of major changes to its governance structure and new measures to support its strategic reorganisation. Hopium had already reorganised its governance structure 6 months ago.
The first announcement concerned tightening of the company’s governance, with the departure of Philippe Baudillon and Olivier Lombard from their respective positions as Deputy CEO and Assistant CEO. Olivier Lombard, who was also a member of the Board, has also left his position to devote himself to other activities. He remains, however, Hopium’s main shareholder.
Hopium focuses on its fuel cell
Sylvain Laurent, Hopium’s CEO, expressed his gratitude to the two outgoing directors for their dedication to the company. “The Hopium project continues with downsized teams but just as much ambition. An ambition driven by its founder and that benefited from Philippe’s experience. Our goal is now to promote a hydrogen fuel cell technology that perfectly aligns with the challenges of decarbonizing industrial sectors,” he said.
The Board of Directors also approved the co-opting of Pascal Ghoson as a board member, replacing Alain Guillou. Pascal Ghoson, who has a solid background in investment banking and entrepreneurship, expressed his enthusiasm at the prospect of contributing to Hopium’s industrial and financial strategy.
Further cost reduction measures
At the same time, Hopium announced the continuation of its cost reduction plan, aligned with the company’s strategic reorientation around its fuel cell technology. These measures are aimed in particular at reducing the company’s fixed costs and payroll.
We will know more about the group’s financial situation when its semi-annual report is published.
Hopium takes up Shows again
Finally, Hopium will be taking part in the 43rd edition of GITEX, one of the largest tech expo. It will be held in Dubai from 16 to 20 October 2023. The company will be presenting its latest-generation fuel cell system as well as its various potential applications for the mobility markets, whether stationary, maritime, or aeronautical.
As a reminder, Hopium is currently finalising the development of its fuel cell to TRL 6 prototype level. This would demonstrate the technological maturity of the solution.
