Hydrogen Europe and GH2 India Join Forces with MoU at European Hydrogen Week

During the European Hydrogen Week, where India is featured as the exclusive partner country, Hydrogen Europe and the Green Hydrogen Association (GH2 India) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to foster collaboration between the two regions, focusing on mutual knowledge sharing and the advancement of the hydrogen sector both in Europe and India.

The partnership outlines common goals, such as promoting best practices and supporting the development of a sustainable hydrogen supply chain. By pooling expertise, the two associations seek to establish a global framework that aligns the growth of their respective markets with broader international objectives.

Nishaanth Balashanmugam, Director of GH2 India, expressed optimism about the partnership: “H2 India is thrilled to collaborate with Hydrogen Europe to accelerate the growth of the global hydrogen economy. Europe has emerged as a key partner to India’s clean energy ambitions, and I hope this collaboration is a step forward in aligning trade and our shared objectives.”

Similarly, Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe, highlighted India’s growing importance in the hydrogen sector: “Hydrogen Europe is extremely pleased to start a close collaboration with GH2 India regarding the upscale of the hydrogen economy. India has evolved to a strong global player in hydrogen, and it is of utmost importance for Europe to partner up in mutual interest.”

This partnership underscores the alignment of European and Indian ambitions for a clean energy future. By formalizing their cooperation, both regions aim to build a robust and sustainable hydrogen economy capable of addressing global energy challenges.

While the MoU sets an encouraging precedent for bilateral collaboration, its success will depend on concrete actions and measurable progress in the coming years. As hydrogen gains momentum globally, partnerships like this will be critical in shaping its role in the clean energy transition.
