Hydrogen takes centre stage at the IAA in Hannover

Several commercial vehicle and truck manufacturers will be presenting hydrogen-powered vehicles (fuel cells or combustion engines) at the IAA Transportation in Hannover. The event will take place in mid-September : from Tuesday 17 to Sunday 22.

Earlier this week, we already mentioned that Stellantis will be taking advantage of the event to unveil a hydrogen version of the new Opel Movano. Hyvia will also be there, as will Toyota, which will be exhibiting its Hilux prototype (already seen at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games), as well as its fuel cell that can be fitted to commercial vehicles.

On its website, the IAA Transportation announces the presence of hydrogen-powered vehicles available for test drives. French manufacturer Hyliko will be present with a 44-tonne truck, as will MAN with its TGX 28.580 hydrogen-powered truck, and Quantron with its QLI FCEV van with a range of 450 km. Equipment manufacturer Phinia will also be making the trip with its Peugeot Boxer retrofitted with a hydrogen engine (a retrofit made in France at the Blois site).

As for Iveco, the group has announced that it will be presenting all its energy solutions, including hydrogen.

The list of exhibitors includes key players such as Ballard, Bosch and Cummins, as well as FEV, Forvia, Hexagon Purus and Symbio. H2 Mobility, the German network of stations, will also be present (we talked about it recently in this article). The IAA in Hannover will also be an opportunity to discover newcomers such as Enginius, which is presenting the small Citypower truck (electric or hydrogen, based on Daimler Truck’s Atego).
