Through its gas operator OQGN*, the Sultanate of Oman has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gasunie, the Dutch energy infrastructure company operating in the Netherlands and Germany.
This collaboration builds on a government-level agreement signed between Oman and the Netherlands in November 2022 during COP27. The aim is to deepen bilateral cooperation on renewable energy and accelerate the development of green hydrogen infrastructure. Ultimately, the goal is to establish a reliable hydrogen supply chain connecting Oman to the Netherlands and North-Western Europe.
As part of the partnership, the two entities will also focus on developing green hydrogen infrastructure within Oman and sharing expertise in carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. “OQGN is proud to support the advancement of Oman’s green hydrogen value chain by ensuring the timely development of essential hydrogen infrastructure,” said the company’s CEO, Mansoor bin Ali Al Abdali.
The agreement reinforces Oman’s strategic ambition to become a major global exporter of green hydrogen.
