The American manufacturer and the French start-up announced an agreement strengthening their partnership* during the Hyvolution show. Not only will they continue their cooperation, but they will also jointly develop green hydrogen production plants throughout Europe. The goal is to have a total of 300MW of hydrogen production capacity in operation by 2025.
Plug Power’s electrolysis technology will be used to provide 1 MW of capacity to the world’s first offshore hydrogen production facility, developed by Lhyfe and powered by electricity from a floating wind turbine off the coast of Le Croisic, at SEM-REV (Centrale Nantes’ offshore test site). This site will be operational by 2022.
The hydrogen obtained will be used mainly for on- and off-road mobility applications. In addition, the two partners also plan to work together to co-develop an offshore wind energy electrolysis plant in the US.
