Pragma Industries, the French equipment manufacturer, has showed up at Hyvolution Chile on the stand of KH2, its distributor in South America. And it’s right in the middle of the show that this hydrogen-powered bicycle can be seen. KH2, which is based in Santiago (Chile), aims to produce green hydrogen at a guaranteed price for years. A green hydrogen that is intended to refuel their hydrogen-powered bicycles and tricycles.
Pragma Industries’ ambitions
We spoke to Olivier Hautin, Commercial & Marketing Director at Pragma Industries. In addition to the brand’s ambition to develop the hydrogen ecosystem and get as many people as possible to adopt H2 solutions, he emphasised that their product is both adaptable and suitable for everyone. He also told us that Pragma Industries is preparing for the arrival of the Olympic Games which will be held in Paris next year. The group is planning to put 1,000 hydrogen-powered bicycles into circulation between now and the start of the festivities.
A refuelling station is scheduled to go into service this autumn. It will be located in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Paris region). Another station is also planned a little later in Clamart (in the same area). Both stations will help expanding this burgeoning network of stations for urban mobility.
Have you heard about the Alpha Neo’s brother?
Although Alpha Neo is the only copy on display at the KH2 stand, the company actually offers 2 models : the Alpha Neo and the Alpha Cargo. Other vehicles are also in the pipeline, such as the scooter, with an expected release date at the end of the year.
Even though both models can be refuelled in just 2 minutes, the Alpha Cargo has a range that can be configured according to customers’ needs: “all you have to do is change the size of the tank,” explains Olivier Hautin. Both vehicles have a 480 W fuel cell and 5 speeds, which offers driving comfort for everyone, whatever their level. What’s more, unlike their battery-powered counterparts, these hydrogen bikes can be refuelled in just 2 minutes, providing the bike with a 150 km range.
Besides, there is an important factor to consider at a time in which relocation is at the heart of debates. All the bikes are exclusively produced in France, including those which will eventually be exported abroad. Nicholas Regnault, CEO and founder of KH2, gave us an overview of the South American market.
Pragma Industries: Hyvolution Chile and beyond
Nicholas Regnault told us about their exhibition in Lima (Peru) last week. And the response from the public and officials was beyond their expectations. The local players showed great interest in their solution. In his view, the South American countries most receptive to their solution are Chile, Colombia and Peru. In fact, the penultimate edition of H2LAC was held in Cartagena, Colombia. You can read our article on this year’s event, which took place in Rio, Brazil, here.
