Symbio: a new research centre in Switzerland?

According to Swiss newspaper La Liberté, The Swiss subsidiary of Symbio is planning to set up a research centre in Corminboeuf, near Fribourg in Switzerland. The centre is due to open in 2026.

The article refers to Symbio Advanced Technologies Switzerland SA, which is a subsidiary of the group of the same name*. It is currently housed on the premises of Michelin Recherche et Technologie SA in Givisiez (canton of Fribourg). The idea is for Symbio to improve its development capabilities and gain operational autonomy.

The new building, covering an area of 2,500 square metres, will feature test rigs and the workforce will go from 25 to 35 experts. Symbio will also benefit from a solid network of subcontractors and the ongoing support of the canton of Fribourg’s economic development agency. And will remain close to Michelin’s research centre.

*The company, which was founded in 2010 by Fabio Ferrari and was wholly acquired by Michelin in 2018, is jointly owned by Forvia, Michelin and Stellantis.
