Cluster ‘Pole Vehicule du Futur’ has just changed its Chairman. Thierry Tournier joins from Alstom and is currently working on a hydrogen project in Belfort.
Cluster ‘Pole Véhicule du Futur’ is the automotive competitiveness cluster most committed to hydrogen. It brings together players in the automotive industry, as well as land transport, in the French North-Eastern regions of Burgundy Franche-Comté and Grand Est. Hydrogen has been one of the cluster’s key themes since it was created. In particular, the cluster runs two clubs around hydrogen: ‘Hydrogène Bourgogne Franche-Comté’ and ‘Dinamhyse’ in the Grand Est region.
The 5th Chairman in the cluster’s history began his career in 1993 at Alstom’s Belfort site. He worked on high-speed trains (TGVs), took part in the technical development of the first Eurostar TGV trains, then gradually developed his skills in the technical field.

In 2010, he joined the management committee of the Belfort site and held a number of different positions, including Innovation Director. He was in charge of setting up several innovation programmes in the field of autonomous trains and hydrogen solutions for freight.
Last April, he moved to the Alstom Group’s head office in Saint-Ouen (Ile-de-France region). From there, he managed the commercial development of a new innovative hydrogen solution. It will be produced at the Belfort site and will contribute to decarbonise transport in Europe.
Incidentally, Cluster ‘Pole Vehicule du Futur’ is the organiser of the Hydrogen Business for Climate forum. The event will take place on October 3 and 4.
