As part of Bus World, Iveco and Hyundai will be presenting a jointly-designed hydrogen bus. The E-WAY H2 will be one of the attractions of the show in Brussels.

This new bus is the result of the partnership announced in March 2022 between the two groups. The E-WAY H2 is a 12-metre long low-floor city bus powered by a 310 kW electric engine and a fuel cell supplied by HTWO. This is the brand that markets hydrogen solutions based on Hyundai Group fuel cells. The bus also incorporates four fuel tanks to store 7.8 kg of hydrogen. With the help of a 69 kWh battery from *FPT Industrial, the E-WAY H2 extends its range to 450 km.

A hybrid electric-hydrogen bus from Iveco and Hyundai

This new bus combines hydrogen refuelling and battery recharging. Developed by Iveco’s bus department, this medium-power hybrid concept is an addition to the traditional electric range. “This  shows that by combining our strengths, we can foster a people transportation system that is environmentally friendly, helps to fight climate change and creates a healthier future for generations to come,” said Domenico Nucera, President of the Bus Division of the Iveco Group.

The E-WAY H2 will therefore be produced at the Iveco Bus plants in Annonay, France, and Foggia, Italy. Iveco and Hyundai have already collaborated on a hydrogen-powered van project (read our article).

Hydrogen Today will be there as a partner of the ZEB conference, which takes place at the same times as Bus World, from 9 to 12 October.
