In about a month’s time, the French capital will be hosting the Olympic Games. As a partner, the Japanese manufacturer continues to deliver vehicles. And to do so, it has used a French retrofitted hydrogen truck.
The information was revealed on LinkedIn by Cedric Borremans, Mr Olympic Games at Toyota Motor Europe. He published a series of photos of a truck in Toyota colours, carrying small electric vehicles (APM: Accessible People Mover) on behalf of Paris 2024. The vehicle was pictured on the Place de l’Etoile and the Place de la Concorde. In a statement, Toyota says that the truck is equipped with one of its fuel cells, has been retrofitted by Hyliko and is operated by Bert & You under the supervision of CEVA Logistics.
It’s a great way of advertising for these companies, who are not allowed to promote their participation in the games (even though it’s an open secret in the industry).
Toyota also points out that the hydrogen is supplied by Air Liquide, another partner of the Paris Olympics.
The Olympic Games are an opportunity for Toyota to show that it is banking on a range of solutions: hydrogen for the fleet of 500 Mirai vehicles (and a total of around ten applications, including trucks and buses), as well as electric, hybrid and synthetic fuels.
