Hyvolution: our interview of Xavier Peugeot (Stellantis)

Stellantis’ hydrogen offer aroused enthusiasm during the Paris Motor Show last year. So, to mark their first participation to Hyvolution, we interviewed Xavier Peugeot, the company’s Senior vice President Commercial Vehicles Business Unit.

During the interview, he stresses the fact that the company is keeping its promises. “We had announced a fully electric range in 2021 and we did it. We had announced our light commercial vehicles would be available by the end of 2022 and we did it.” And they intend to stay true to their roadmap which forecasts 1000 hydrogen LCVs in 2023.

The company has also seized the opportunity of the event to announce a partnership with Engie Solutions. A collaboration that will make their offer even more attractive since the objective is to provide a combined offer of both vehicles and hydrogen refuelling stations (hrs). They have agreed on 3 offers : initiation (hrs for 20 to 40 vehicles/day), pure player (100 to 200) and ecosystem (200 to 400).

Stellantis’s site of Hordain (Northern France) will therefore be the first in the world to produce a vehicle in thermal, electric or hydrogen version.

Finally, Xavier Peugeot stresses the fact that hydrogen and electric solutions are complementary and they are not to be opposed. With their offer, Stellantis addresses clients who need to use them intensively, over long distances and with minimal stopping time – hence the asset of the 3 minutes refuelling time.

The whole interview is available here (in French).
