Gaia Energy and HyDeal to launch HyDeal Africa

Gaia Energy HyDeal Africa

Gaia Future Energy and HyDeal, a promoter of one of the largest European green hydrogen projects, have joined forces to launch HyDeal Africa. This ambitious partnership aims at delivering, transporting, and exporting large-scale green hydrogen from Africa to Europe, at a price equivalent to fossil fuels.

Following a partnership with HRS, the French hydrogen stations manufacturer, Gaia Future Energy has now partnered with HyDeal to set up HyDeal Africa. This partnership is a direct response to the stated objective of the European Union to import 10 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030 as part of the RepowerEU program.

A few words about Gaia Future Energy and HyDeal

Gaia Future Energy is an affiliate company of the Gaia Energy group. As a leading international developer of green hydrogen in Africa, it has an 80 GW pipeline of green hydrogen projects under development. From its projects in Morocco, it aims to produce a volume of 1 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030. And 5 million tons by 2035. These volumes are intended for the European market, at the most competitive price for green hydrogen in the world.

As for HyDeal, it is a developer of mass-scale competitive green hydrogen projects. In 2020, it launched the HyDeal Ambition initiative. This consortium brings together 30 green hydrogen value chain players in Europe. The group is currently developing hydrogen production
sites in Spain to serve industrial, energy and mobility customers. The initial delivery is scheduled by the end of 2026.

“The HyDeal model of vertically-integrated mass-scale competitive green hydrogen infrastructures is a perfect match for the stated ambitions of North African governments and entrepreneurial energy players. We are thrilled to team up with Gaia Energy, aiming at transforming the energy landscape on both sides of the Mediterranean and helping Europe substitute fossil fuels with a reliable, affordable, zero-carbon alternative,” said Thierry Lepercq, President of HyDeal, about the partnership.
