HyVolution 2016, the Hydrogen Summit in Paris

Hyvolution 2016

After a first successful edition in 2013 in Albi, France, HyVolution will take place in Paris this time, early next year, on February 4 & 5 2016. The venue (Parc Floral de Paris, Route de la Pyramide, 75012 Paris, France), is a very nice spot east of Paris. Referring to its name, the place should be very welcoming and flourishing, even during wintertime.

A good sign to consider, a number of top tier companies are already engaged as Premium or Gold partners, notably ENGIE, Air Liquide, McPhy, Michelin, Symbio FCell, ADEME (the French governmental agency dedicated to environment)…

It looks like the event should be an important congress with international perspectives and speakers (English spoken the first day), while the main topics of this 2016 edition will also be addressed in French the second day, but with a focus on nationwide deployments. We’ve heard that top industry executives and French ministers are expected: the hydrogen economy is becoming a hot topic at European level, and at the level of the French government and Presidency.

New features for the 2016 edition of Hyvolution

At the same time, HyVolution is a trade exhibition, not just a set of conferences. It provides all the professional services and value expected for such need. GL Events, a very large European event company, is the producer of this edition; it is certainly a guarantee of experience and quality, in this respect.

Most of the time, mixing conferences and exhibition results in a rather frustrating experience for visitors and exhibitors. While visitors are listening to speakers on the stage, exhibitors on duty are tracking the few disseminated people lost between the exhibition booths, or getting some mail and discuss cats and dogs with other colleagues. When the conference slots are over, the delegates rush to the booths and struggle to get few minutes of attention from overwhelmed exhibitors. When it’s not lunchtime…

According to direct sources, the concept of the 2016 event should avoid this trap. It will fairly balance the schedule between “plenary sessions” and open time for whatever you want to. These times will be organised in two types: Studio TV H2, the conferencing time, and H2 Forums, a kind of “à la carte” menu, open time for whatever you want to do, but with a number of possibilities offered and prepared: animations, visit of the exhibition and booths, press conferences, B to B pre-arranged meetings, etc.

The new Studio TV H2

By the way, what is this Studio TV H2 thing we’re talking about? Well, the content producers are not very found of conference sessions that stack one after the other PowerPoint presentations that end up with a scoring sheet where you tip good and bad slides, good and less good speakers, with a moderator that is mainly trying to keep everybody on time… “We’re running after the schedule!”. Let’s try to do better for the public and for the speakers, let’s provide content in a more dynamic manner, and ensure a great debate for the speakers and the audience. The Powerpoint format does not make it well. HyVolution 2016 will propose something very different, but we’ll talk about that in another post soon.
