Through its joint venture with DongFeng, Nissan released a showcase fleet, which is a hydrogen-powered version of the Venucia.
Despite a certain wave of skepticism, hydrogen use in mobility continues to grow in China, specifically hydrogen-powered cars. It is quite revealing to see that Nissan, who is rather involved in battery-powered electric cars, chose the brand Dongfeng Nissan to release a fleet of the Venucia H2e. Even though it is only a trial version, the Japanese manufacturer’s vehicles will roam the streets of Guangzhou City for 36 months.
The vehicle features a 60 kW fuel cell, connected to a battery, to power a 160kW electric motor, with a claimed range of 500 km. However, it is safe to say that the Venucia H2e is not available to the public yet given its price.
GAC, Changan and SAIC have already produced fuel cell powered vehicles. A total of 5 805 fuel cell vehicles were sold in China in 2023, which is a 72 % increase. However, these were mainly commercial vehicles.
